Fall Classic Game 7 Captures 51M Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting 11-inning clash that saw the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51M viewers across the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB stated this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This represents a 16% increase compared to the last Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 ranked 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a single network in Japan.

Series Totals and Trends

The full seven-match World Series drew 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two straight years.

Counting the opening game telecast on Univision, the total American viewership reached 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million viewers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and Fox’s best playoff performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in 16 different tongues.
